The Theory Behind Ionic Detoxifcation Systems

The technology of the IonizeMe Ionic Detoxifcation system has been in development for several decades. The induction of alternating positive and negative ion charges during the same treatment is based on a process called “Iontophoresis.” The FDA approved Iontophoresis as a healing modality in 1970.

The feld of Electro-Therapeutics was experimented with in the early 1720’s. By 1833, Dr. Bernard Raymond Fabre-Palaprat, a French physician, successfully demonstrated that potassium iodide, (blue in color), introduced into the skin via a negative battery terminal on one arm, would travel to another area of the body attracted by a positive pole. This opened up a whole range of possibilities in using electrical currents to stimulate, transfer, and administrate fuids and specifc compounds inside the body. At that time, it was not understood how fuids were transferred through cell membranes, but in 2003, the Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to two American scientists, Peter Agre and Roderick MacKinnon, for their discovery of an ion channel system within cell membranes that generates an electrical signal to allow certain nutrients and fuids to pass through the membrane. This channel system maintains the balance of the bioelectrical distribution of nutrients and waste products in and out of the cell. All of the symptoms of aging and degenerative diseases are in one way or another associated with poor hydration within the cell. This diminishes the cell’s ability to repair itself and eliminate toxic waste. When cells dehydrate, they bunch up, fusing their membranes together and eliminating important surface areas for these ion channels to work. Over time, the body becomes more and more toxic and unable to transfer vital nutrients needed for repair or cell replication. The principle of the IonizeMe Ionic Detoxifcation system is to use micro current to facilitate the movement or transfer of ions in and out of cells and restore the balance of positive and negative charges of cells. This painless, non-invasive micro current opens up the pathways to the vital ion channels. The “boost” or energy the body receives from the ion water module (array), which sits down in the water during a treatment, allows this amazing detoxifcation process to occur. As water is ionized it is split into H+ and OH-ions (and sometimes into H3O+ and H2O2 ions), similar to the way water cascading over a waterfall becomes ionized. These ions are then able to enter the body through the 4,000 large pores of the feet. Then the circulatory and lymphatic systems transport the ions throughout the body.

These ions neutralize oppositely charged toxins in the cells that are normally slow to exit the body. In this way, all the body’s organs, including the liver, intestines, kidneys, lungs, skin, and immune system, can become energized and stimulated to function optimally. The body then rids itself of these toxins through its normal processes of urination, defecation and sweating. When the body is able to eliminate toxins and metabolic waste, then infammation, edema, and swelling all decrease, allowing the body to repair itself and reduce pain within muscles and joints.

Ear Infections: Antibiotics Not So Good

A new study was released this month that shines light on the common ear infection and the role that antibiotics play in getting them to go away. The results don’t shine a very favorable light on antibiotics.

Research from a UCLA study was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. When referring to antibiotic use on ear infections their study concluded that “Antibiotics are modestly more effective than no treatment but cause adverse effects in 4% to 10% of children. Most antibiotics have comparable clinical success.” The research showed that although there is a slightly better recovery rate for children who use antibiotics on their ear infections, the side effects of rashes and diarrhea offset the overall benefit. This leaves the decision to use antibiotics in a gray area for the average parent. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has recently started a campaign called “Get Smart: Know When Antibiotics Work.” Their hope is to bring issues such as childhood ear infection and other complicated antibiotic use scenarios into the public eye and assist parents in making better antibiotic use decisions.

Acupuncture For Pain Relief

Proponents of acupuncture will be happy to know that new research shows it to be an affective tool for pain mitigation.

Researchers from the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology and Neuroradiology at University Hospital in Essen, Germany collaborated with the Department of Complementary and Integrative Medicine at University of Duisburg-Essen to study the effects of acupuncture on pain relief. The researchers used fMRI’s (functional magnetic resonance imaging) to monitor brain activity while the test subjects were experiencing pain in conjunction with acupuncture. “Until now, the role of acupuncture in the perception and processing of pain has been controversial,” explained lead researcher Nina Theysohn, M.D. “Functional MRI gives us the opportunity to directly observe areas of the brain that are activated during pain perception and see the variances that occur with acupuncture.” “Activation of brain areas involved in pain perception was significantly reduced or modulated under acupuncture,” said Dr. Theysohn. “Acupuncture is supposed to act through at least two mechanisms—nonspecific expectancy-based effects and specific modulation of the incoming pain signal,” Dr. Theysohn said. “Our findings support that both these nonspecific and specific mechanisms exist, suggesting that acupuncture can help relieve pain.” At we have several handy products that our customers find useful for pain relief. Corn Based BPA Replacement

For those of you following the continued research into the safety/dangers of Bisphenol A (BPA) here is some encouraging news. Scientists have figured out how to create a product that acts much the same as BPA, but it is derived from corn, instead of petroleum.

The company Archer Daniels Midland is now producing the corn-based chemical called isosorbide. “With increased interest in environmental improvement, we see growing opportunity to expand our portfolio of renewable industrial products,” said the ADM Industrial Chemicals business director, Robert Broomham. Isosorbide can be used in the manufacture of most of the same products as BPA can, such as polyesters, epoxy resins for paints, polycarbonates for durable goods and optical media, packaging and durable goods and detergents. Althought corn is a renewable resource it is also a food crop and therefore many people do not see it as ideal. Another concern is that isosorbide has not been sufficiently tested to see if it leads to health problems unique to it’s composition.
